The Best Apps to Get Your Resolutions Back on Track

Every new year I make a long list of resolutions and promise that this is the year that I will keep them. I think the only one that I have ever stuck to is being a vegetarian and I made that when I was 10 years old. Things always seem to get in the way whether it is school, work, trying to have a social life or a mix of it all. Straying off track does not mean we have to stay off track though. Our beloved iPhones might be able to help us stick to the habits that we are trying to follow. Here are some of my favorites!

 1. Headspace: Meditation is something that is being talked about everywhere right now, and for good reason. Creating time every single day to clear your mind and relax is so important. The app Headspace allows you to do that. It helps you learn how to meditate through guided meditation and also provides meditation exercises for specific situations such as sleeping, a fear of flying, commuting, and more.

Pacifica: Another app that is great for your mental health is Pacifica. Every day Pacifica sends you a notification asking how you are feeling. If you are feeling bad, it provides a breathing exercise. This is a perfect way to track your feelings and find any patterns.

Sweat with Kayla: I used this app religiously this past summer and it was amazing. It provides 28 minutes, intense workouts and challenges to do every day. The scheduling and community on the app really motivates you to stick to it. A personalized meal plan is also provided no matter what your nutritional needs are. The reason I don't use it anymore, the price tag. $20 a month (ugh).  If you have the money and want an app that will whip you into shape, this is the one!

Popsugar Active: If you don't have the money for Sweat with Kayla, this is a great alternative. There is such a wide variety of workouts that no matter what you like to do or what part of your body you are working on, you will find something.

Fitbit app: This is one that you need to have the product for, but it is AMAZING! My parents gave me the Fitbit Charge 2 for Christmas and I love it. It is really an amazing product. It inspires me to get my steps in. You can also track water intake, calories, weight, and my favorite...sleep! If you don't have a Fitbit already, I really reccomend it!

Sleep Cycle: Getting into a good sleep pattern is my number one goal this year. Lack of sleep can cause stress, lack of motivation, many health problems, and the dreaded eye circles. If you do not have the Fitbit app this is a great option. It helps you go to bed on time, and wake up peacefully.

Foodstand: I just recently discovered this app, and I am so glad I did! It allows you to set food goals for yourself ( cutting back on soda, eating less meat, drink 8 glasses of water a day, etc.) and stay on track!
